The association aims to:
- promote the professional, educational, social and cultural development of its members
- promote and provide a forum for the discussion and resolution of matters affecting the professional/occupational well-being of members
- publish or have published at such intervals as from time to time be determined, a journal or other such publications on topics written and researched by members of staff or any other persons
