Associate Degree in Environmental Health Inspection (Full-Time)

Entry Requirements

 

The minimum requirements for entry into the College are:

  • Five (5) passes at CSEC General Proficiency Level with Grade 1, 2, or 3 (from June 1998 only) OR
  • Five (5) passes at GCE Ordinary Level with Grades A, B or C OR
  • Any qualification considered by the College to be equivalent to the abovementioned OR
  • Pre-Health Certification.

NB Mathematics, Chemistry, and Biology are compulsory.

 

 

Associate Degree in Health Information Management (Full-Time)

Entry Requirements

Four (4) CSEC General Certificates are required, including English, Mathematics, and a Science Subject.

Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (Full-Time)

Entry Requirements

The minimum requirements for entry into the College are:

  • Five (5) passes at CSEC General Proficiency Level with Grade 1, 2, or 3 (from June 1998 only) OR
  • Five (5) passes at GCE Ordinary Level with Grades A, B or C OR
  • Any qualification considered by the College to be equivalent to the abovementioned.

NB English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology or Human & Social Biology are compulsory and one additional subject. (Physics or Integrated Science).

Three (3) passes at CSEC General Proficiency Level with Grade 1, 2, or 3 (from June 1998 only) and the Pre-Health Sciences Certificate.

Applicants must be a minimum of 17 years on admission.

Students who have been enrolled in another faculty may request a transfer into this programme, but should have demonstrated a satisfactory performance while in the institution. Students from other institutions are also eligible to apply.

Associate Degree in Rehabilitation Therapy Technology (Full-Time)

Entry Requirements

The minimum requirements for entry into the College are: 

  • Pre-Health Sciences Certificate
  • Four (4) passes at CSEC General Proficiency Level with Grade 1, 2, or 3 (from June 1998 only) OR
  • Four (4) passes at GCE Ordinary Level with Grades A, B or C OR
  • Any qualification considered by the College to be equivalent to the abovementioned. 

NB English Language and two Science subjects are compulsory.

 

 

Bachelor Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (Full-Time)

Entry Requirements

The minimum requirements for entry into the College are: 

  • Five (5) passes at CSEC General Proficiency Level with Grade 1, 2, or 3 (from June 1998 only) OR
  • Five (5) passes at GCE Ordinary Level with Grades A, B or C OR
  • The Pre Health Sciences Certificate OR
  • Any qualification considered by the College to be equivalent to the abovementioned.

NB English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology or Human & Social Biology are compulsory.

Applicants must have attained their 17th birthday by December 30th of the year of entry.

Bachelor Degree in General Nursing (Full-Time)

Entry Requirements

Eligible applicants applying for the four-year programme must have a minimum of:

Five (5) passes inclusive of English Language, Mathematics and Biology or Human and Social Biology or Integrated Science or Chemistry at CSEC General Proficiency Level at Grade 1, 2, or 3 (from June 1998 only) OR

Five (5) passes inclusive of English Language Mathematics and Biology or Human and Social Biology or Integrated Science or Chemistry at GCE Ordinary Level at Grades A, B or C OR

Graduates of the Pre-Health Sciences programme – must gain a minimum of 60% in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology OR

Graduates of the Certificate in Nursing Assistant programme – must have English, Mathematics, either Biology, Human and Social Biology, Chemistry or Integrated Science in addition to the Nursing Assistant Certificate.

Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy (Full-Time)

Entry Requirements

The minimum requirements for entry into the programme are:

  • Five (5) passes at CSEC General Proficiency Level with Grade 1, 2, or 3 (from June 1998 only) OR
  • Five (5) passes at GCE Ordinary Level with Grades A, B or C OR
  • Any qualification considered by the College to be equivalent to the abovementioned. OR
  • Pre-Health Certification with prior passes in Chemistry and Biology

NB: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English Language are compulsory.


Admission is on a competitive basis and qualified applicants are invited to attend a selection interview.

Pharmacists holding a diploma/certificate/Associate Degree in Pharmacy may be eligible to join the degree programme.

Certificate in Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Entry Requirements

Passes in four Caribbean Examination Council (CSEC) subjects at General Proficiency including English Language and Biology or Human and Social Biology. The Pre-Health Sciences Certificate is also accepted for consideration. For employment in the Public Sector of Barbados, a Light Goods Vehicle Licence or learner’s permit is required.

Certificate in Nursing Assistants

Entry Requirements

The requirements are passes in two (2) CSEC subjects at General Proficiency or equivalent level in English and one other subject (preferably a science subject) 

Admission is on a competitive basis and qualified applicants are required to attend a selection interview.

 

Pre-Entrance Medicals

Students are required to provide evidence that they have received:

  1. Full Medical Examination
    • Chest X-ray
    • Routine urinalysis
    • Throat swab
    • Full blood count
    • VDRL 
  2. Immunizations 
    • Mantoux—BCG if necessary
    • Tetanus Toxoid
    • Polio Vaccine x three doses at four (4) weekly intervals
    • Hepatitis B Vaccine x 3
  3. Dental Examination
    • Submission of a dental certificate to the indicate dental health status

 

Uniforms

Students are expected to wear a full uniform for clinical practice.

Certificate in Nursing Auxiliary Studies

Entry Requirements

  • Prospective applicants should have reached the age of seventeen (17) years at the time of application.
  • Have obtained English Language at CSEC General Proficiency Level with Grade 1, 2 or 3 OR
  • Any qualification considered by the College to be equivalent to the abovementioned.

Certificate in Pre Health Science (Part-Time)

Entry Requirements

The minimum requirements for entry into this programme:

  • Three (3) passes at CSEC General Proficiency Level with Grade 1, 2, or 3 (from June 1998 only) OR
  • Three (3) passes at GCE Ordinary Level with Grades A, B or C OR
  • Any qualification considered by the College to be equivalent to the abovementioned.

NB English Language is compulsory and a science subject will be an asset.

Qualified applicants are invited to attend an interview.

Post - Graduate Diploma in Gerontological Nursing

Entry Requirements

General Nurse Certification (Associate Degree/Bachelors/certificate),
A minimum of 2-3 years post-basic RN experience
Experience at a gerontological institution would be an asset.

Post-Associate Degree BSe Nursing Programme (Part-Time)

Entry Requirements

Admission is on a competitive basis and qualified applicants may be invited to attend an interview.

Post-Associate Degree Diploma in Midwifery

Entry Requirements

Current registration to practice as a general nurse in Barbados.

Post-Associate Diploma in Community Health Mental Health Nursing

Entry Requirements

Students admitted to the programme are required to be registered nurses and midwives. Applicants for community mental training are required to be Registered Nurses and Registered Mental Health Nurses.
